Mash bill: 76.3% Malted Barley, 23.7% Malted Rye
Tasting Notes: A bit more sweet and decadent on approach than our last River Roots American Malt, but still carries similar pocket of aromas. Fragrant with nods to fudge brownies with walnuts, berry topped cream cheese icing, stewed apples, sorghum, espresso, and warm leather tones.
The palate is heavily concentrated with flavors of rich espresso, gooey brownies, a toasted vanilla and dollop of berry reduction, dark maple, and balsamic glazed baked apples.
The finish is long and fudgey with growing spices and drying with walnut and leather. There are still nips of herbal and citrus, but not as intense as our previous barrel. These American Malt whiskeys are a roller coaster of flavor, that’s for sure.
